The CNE has been known for years as an indicator of the end of the summer and the upcoming start of another school year. Parents take their children to the Ex for some fun in an effort to give summer a great goodbye! Well, seeing as I am no longer a kid (though at times I’m sure it’s debatable) I thought I would switch it up. I took my parents to the Ex.
I packed them up and tied their shoes and we drove down to the CNE grounds. We looked both ways before we crossed, and before I forgot, I glazed their little noses with sunscreen. Kidding! We entered the gates and walked past different performers and vendors but I made sure they didn’t wander off too far.
I took them to the Farm to see all of the adorable animals. My mom really like the alpacas- she said they looked like puppies with long necks! I had to explain to her that we couldn’t keep an alpaca as a pet because it was just too big for our house! It was getting dark, so we headed to the Midway to watch the rides and enjoyed the last weekend of summer together. My dad watched the Polar Express with delight and my mom danced to the music! It was getting late, so we decided to go home, even though they begged me to stay. They walked their tired little feet back to the car, and our way home my mom asked, “Angie, can we go to the Ex next year??”
“Yes, mommy, we can.”
